What is Mediation?
Mediation is an alternative dispute resolution to litigation. During
mediation, a mediator will act as an independent individual to assist the parties to understand the
issues in dispute and the benefits and needs of each party in order to reach a mutually acceptable
solution. The mediator will also assist in drafting terms of settlement. If the parties reach an
agreement, they have to sign the terms of settlement, which is legally binding. The parties
voluntarily participate in mediation, which is a completely confidential process.
